Peter M. Stanek

Stanek, Peter M. Larger than life Peetee will be laid to rest on his birthday. "That's tremendous" age 66, of Brooklyn Park, MN (formerly of Nordeast Mpls), passed away on March 1, 2015 after a life-long battle with many chronic diseases. Everyone's best friend, he carried our crosses - as well as his own - with humor and grace. Pete was born on March 9, 1948 in Mpls., MN, graduated from Edison High School and obtained his business degree from the University of Minnesota. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years, was a devoted member of Holy Cross parish and a lover of Polish food. Avid fisherman, golfer, traveler and sports fan. His greatest wish was to see the Vikings win a Superbowl and the Gophers win the Rosebowl. He was thrilled to see the Twins win the World Series twice. Preceded in death by loving wife and best friend, Leslie (Hardt); parents, Stanley and Marianne Stanek (Kochen); and beloved in-laws, Eddie and Ellen Hardt. Survived by sister, Barbara Bandarek; brothers, Jim (Connie), Stan (Sue), Rich (Sally), Greg (Jodi) and Rob (Melanie); as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Sunday, March 8 from 4-7 PM with Rosary service at 7 PM at the Washburn-McReavy Northeast Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, March 9, 10:30 AM, Holy Cross Catholic Church, 17th Ave. & University Ave NE. Final visitation 9:30 AM Monday at church. Lunch to follow. Private interment.
