Lee, Ardeth John "Art" Died March 1, 2015 in Roseville, MN. Art was born to Fred and Myrtle Lee on July 31, 1921 in Volga, SD. He graduated from Rapid City High School in Rapid City, SD. He attained the highest honor of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. Art married Ruth Flom in Rapid City, SD, August 28, 1942. He earned his civil engineering degree from South Dakota School of Mines, Rapid City, SD in 1942. His career in engineering included Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA, Scott Engineering in Watertown, SD and Jamestown, ND. In 1954, Art became the Village Administrator for Brooklyn Center, MN. and eventually hired as City Manager for Brooklyn Center. He became the Director of Public Works for Hennepin County in 1967 and was appointed Associate County Administrator for Hennepin County in 1978. He retired from the county in 1984. Art was a former president of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church. His hobbies included wood carving, fishing and following the Twins and the Vikings. Over time, he has volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity and the Lions Club. Art was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, brothers, Randolph Lee, Eugene Lee, and Fred W. Lee, and his great granddaughter, Samantha Anderson. He is survived by his children, Marsha Dillon (Don) of Brandon, FL, James Lee (Bettie) of St. Paul, MN, and Mark Lee of Minneapolis, MN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Dana Dillon of Tampa, FL, Kristen Wasson (Nick) of Minneapolis, MN, Ryan Lee of Baltimore, MD, Marija Anderson (Mike) of Dallas, TX, and by Steven Lee (Nicole) of Orono, MN. Survivors also include daughter-in-law, Randee Nelson-Lee, great-granddaughters, Sloane Kennedy Anderson and Harper Renee Lee, and numerous friends and relatives. Art's family would like to thank the staff on the Hearth unit at EagleCrest in Roseville, MN for their compassionate care and support of their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Memorial Service 11AM Friday March 6, 2015 at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, 5929 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, with visitation 1 hour prior to service at church.
