Philipp, Gary Lee of Monticello, Minnesota & Weslaco Texas, passed away on the 23rd of February at the age of 72, after a 2 year battle with cancer. Gary graduated in 1960 from Blue Earth High School. He attended vocational school for carpentry, in Austin, Minn, prior to a 38 year career as a craftsman carpenter. Gary is survived by his wife of 50 years Janice (Arndt) Philipp, daughter Kelly (Paul) Crum, grandsons Wyatt, Sawyer, and Parker of Georgia; daughter Kari (Jon) Kortge, grandsons Tyler and Zachary of Michigan. Gary awed many with his talents to craft, construct or repair, and was a proud 50 year member of his Carpenters Union. His retirement joy and pride was spending time with his grandsons, as well as fishing the lakes of Minnesota and the Gulf waters of Texas, watching Nascar and traveling cross-country with his wife. Also surviving are siblings Dennis Philipp and Eugene (Donna) Philipp, Diane (John) Evans and Gaylene (Peter) Gunberg; brothers-in-law Weldon Arndt, Mick (Marlene) Arndt, Jerold Arndt, and sisters-in-laws, Marlene Isenberg and Marge Arndt. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ruth Philipp, brother-in-law Gary Arndt, sisters-in-law, Vivian Arndt, Della Philipp, and Bonnie Arndt. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at Rio Valley Estates, in Weslaco, TX on the 7th of March at 1:00 PM. He will be dearly missed by friends and buddies in Texas, Mexico, as well as his carpenter friends in Minnesota.
