Crews, Robert Baker Age 84, formerly of South Haven and Hamel, MN passed away December 11, 2014 at Sunrise of Golden Valley. He was born October 17, 1930 to James Lee and Florence Isabel Chord Crews in Columbia, MO. Bob will be missed by children Gregory (Kathy), Marcia Sands (Ken), James (Amy), Mary Schiebe (David), & Daniel (Wanda) Crews; grandchildren Nicole, Steven, Jeremy, Laura, Jason, Cassandra, Kendra, Stephanie, Benjamin, Derek, Joshua, Samantha, Zackary, Jessica, & Tyler; great grandchildren Luke, Abby, Mollie, Allie, Lily, Blake, Leah, Wyatt, Brent, Jason, Emma, Kylie, Aaron, Mackenzie, Everett and his special friend Helen Hoffman of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rita, twin brother Richard and brother Edward; sisters, Nora Jenson and Juanita Lockwood. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1949, and spent three years stationed in San Francisco where he was a Procurement Clerk. He met his wife Rita Leroux while both were on active duty. They married in 1951. Bob completed his enlistment in 1953 and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Marines with the rank of Tech Sergeant. Bob and Rita moved to Newton, Iowa where the family lived for three years, and where Bob learned to be a newspaper pressman. They moved to Rita's hometown of Hamel MN. Bob worked as a pressman at the Minneapolis Star Tribune for 37 years, retiring in 1994. Having purchased a home on Clearwater Lake in Annandale, MN in 1988, they retired to the lake to spend their summers, and went south for the winters. After visiting quite a few southern states their first several winters, they eventually settled in Harlingen, TX. After Rita died in 2005, Bob continued the routine of going south to Harlingen every winter, until 2011. Bob's family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at Sunrise of Golden Valley for their compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Monday, December 22nd at the Church of St. Mary of the Lake, 105 N. Forestview Lane, Plymouth. Visitation Sunday, Dec. 21st, 5-8 PM at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave N. @ Vicksburg Lane and Monday at church one hour before Mass. Interment St. Anne's Cemetery, Hamel MN.
