Leroy Burns

Burns, Leroy 85, of Minneapolis passed away peacefully on Nov 18, 2014 at Walker Methodist Health Center. The Jackson, Tennessee native moved to Minneapolis in the late 1950s after completing two active duty assignments in the U.S. Army. He was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement after 30 years in 1994. He affectionately became known as "Mailman." Leroy enjoyed cooking, dancing, and music. Always a dapper dresser, he was never without a harmonica. He became known as the "Harmonica Man." He was preceded in death by Rachel Burns, parents Henry Burns and Rosie Mae Echoles, and grandsons, Julian Harmon and Moses Moore. He is survived by his children, Rose McGee, Felisha Burns, Roberta Moore, Leron Burns; step-daughter, Barbara Smith; grandchildren: Roslyn Harmon, Adam-Davis McGee, Yaire Burns, and Leroy, Terry, Rachel, Alicia, Michael, Shareka, Rakeem, Akeem and Tanya Moore. Homegoing is Sat Nov 22 at Holsey Memorial CME Church 1229 Logan Avenue N. Minneapolis, MN 55411. Visitation 10 - 11am; Service 11am. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
