Vernon Vincent Nash

Nash, Vernon Vincent Passed away on October 18, 2014 at 91 years of age. Vern was born in Balaton, Minnesota to Harold and Hazel Nash. He graduated from Balaton High School and in 1944 married Nona Kelson, his wife of 68 years who passed away in 2013. Vern served with the U.S. Army in France during World War II. After the war, he and Nona lived in Minneapolis while he earned an engineering degree at the University of Minnesota. Vern and Nona moved to Minnetonka where he built their home and he and Nona raised their family. Vern worked at 3M and retired in 1988. Throughout his life he enjoyed a variety of activities including fishing, hunting, camping, skiing and traveling, but his family was always most important to him. Vern is survived by children Mary Gove (Peter), Tom Nash (Charlene), Laurie Holmberg (Peter) and Carol Carlson. Grandchildren Christie Gove-Berg (Peter), Matthew Gove (Gayathri), Josh Holmberg (Jackie), Jamie Kain (Steven), Jenny Beck (Adam), Nathaniel Carlson and Natalie Carlson. Great-grandchildren Owen, Adelyn and Annamarie Berg. Brothers Conrad and Orville Nash. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th at 12:30 at Waverly Gardens, Presbyterian Homes, 5919 Centerville Road, North Oaks, 55127. Please park in the back of the building and enter Door E. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The family thanks the staff at Waverly Gardens for their care of Vern and Nona the past several years.
