Arms, Dr. James "Jim/Red/ Doc/Dad/ Grandpa/ Big Papa" Passed away peacefully at his Whitefish home surrounded by his family on October 18, 2014. Age 90. Preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Kay, son Jimmy, brother Tom and brother-in-law Don Giefer. Survived by children Maureen (Jim Johnson), Margaret (Jim Burt), Teresa (Joe Christensen), Sheila (Matthew Mason), Katie (John Reiter), Marty (Chris Moakley), and Danny (fiancée Meghan); 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchil-dren; sisters Muggs (Dave Huch), Kathleen (Jay Blanke), and Betts Giefer; brother Rev. Mike Arms; sister-in-law Judy Arms; brother-in-law, Bob Beaudoin; and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Doc enjoyed a full and faith filled life, a big and loving family and many, many friends. He was a WWII veteran proudly serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a general practitioner who cared for his many patients with compassion and skill at his Richfield office and St. Mary's Hospital. He retired to his lake home 28 years ago and greatly enjoyed time with family and friends at the lake. He was a kind, gentle, wise father and friend and will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart Church, Crosslake, MN, 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 25, 2014. Reviewal at Immaculate Heart 2 hours prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Immaculate Heart Church of Crosslake or St. Stephens Minneapolis, Loaves and Fishes.
