McAninch, Joseph James (Jim) Sept. 29, 1928 - Sept. 17, 2014 Jim passed quietly in his sleep surrounded by loved ones after under-going surgery. He grew up in Oak Lawn, Illinois, the eldest of three children and graduated from St. Rita Catholic High School. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. Jim and his wife, Virginia (McAninch) Selzer relocated to Mound, Minnesota in 1950. He was the loving father of six children and worked 37 years as a mechanic for Berry Auto in Wayzata. He was a hard working, fun loving man who coached youth football for the Mound Athletic Association for several years. Jim loved to socialize and tell jokes, sometimes more than once. He loved to repair and build things with his hands, preferably without a permit. He had a huge heart and shared his home with others that needed a place to stay. He is preceded in death by daughter, Sandy (McGhee). He is survived by his loving wife Sandy; children: Debbi, Mickey, Patti, Dan and Bob; spouses; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Mpls. V.A. Hospital Staff. Visitation 11:00 am-1:00 pm Sat. Sept. 27 at Rettinger Funeral Home, 425 Lake St. Long Lake.
