Himes, Ruth Jeanette Dormady Beloved Mother, Sister, and Aunt Entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 15, 2014, at the age of 94. Born February 2, 1920 in New Salem, ND, grew up in Pleasant Grove, MN and graduated from Rochester, MN. In 1941 she married Cecil Himes, had five children, then later divorced. Ruth owned and managed the Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Parlor in Miracle Mile until she retired in 1995. She has resided in Stewartville, MN for the past 19 years. Survived by sister Mildred (Carroll) Bellis of Rolling Hills, CA, daughters Ruthanne Greenwood of Newport Beach, CA and Sue Ellen Gibbs of Vestavia Hills, AL, and son James Kelly (Joann) Himes of Milton, FL. Loving grandmother to Daniel Greenwood, Michael Greenwood, Timothy Greenwood, Renee Greenwood, Taj Marie Maxedon, and great-grandchildren David, Morgan, Matthew, Michael, Kyle, Taylor, Jessica, Mason, Maddox, Dalton, Bryhannon, and Austyn. Plus best friend Edna Hanson, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by sons Michael Bruce Himes (1967 Vietnam) and Robert Cecil Himes (2005), parents James & Lua Dormady, brothers Clarence Darmody, Herbert Dormady, Frankie/Robert Dormady, Edward Dormody, Gordon Darmady and sisters Rena Henderson-Hanson and Ruby Caulfield. Ruth loved staying active and enjoyed reading, Scrabble, and bridge, but her favorite activity was playing cribbage with her grandson Mike, niece Sandy or anyone else she could recruit to play. Ruth was truly loved by all who knew her, especially her Stewartville family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Memorial Service will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Chapel at the Stewartville Care Center, 120 4th St. N.E., Stewartville MN 55976. Christian Burial will be at a later date, Union Cemetery, Pleasant Grove, MN. The family has requested memorial donations in Ruth Hime's name go to the Stewartville Care Center Family Council to support and continue the wonderful activities and care she received while there.
