Burkland, Elizabeth M. "Liz" age 75, of Elk River, passed away Sept. 12. Liz was a firecracker from the day she was born, April 10, 1939 to Bud and Maebelle Brindley. Grew up in NE Mpls. Liz was a champion speedskater in her youth at Edison High School and Edison High School Cheerleader Class of 1957. A proud inductee in the Edison Hall of Fame. Loved her Edison friends for her lifetime. In 1958 she married a classmate from kindergarten through high school, David L. Burkland. Together for 56 years, she was very proud of her five kids. Survived by husband, David; 4 sons, Scott (Julie), Bill (Donna), Daniel Sr. (Paula) and Paul (Ann) Burkland; daughter, Betsy Burkland; grandchildren, Veronica, Clayton, Jessica, Grant and Tori, Daniel Jr., Samantha, Andrew, Raekeya and Ellese; 3 great-grandchildren. Liz loved motherhood, was a great cook, baker and expert seamstress and cross-stitcher. Many homes are adored with her creations. Preceded by brother, Bill; sister, Bea. Survived by brother, James Brindley. Memorial gathering Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 from 4-7 PM with a sharing of memories at 6 PM at our chapel.
