David B. Dille

Dille, David B. of Blooming-ton, died at his home, Wednesday, August 20. Affectionately known as Grandpa- Unc by his grand nephews, Dave was born just after Christmas in 1931 in Cleveland, OH. He studied accounting in college and during the 1950's he was auditing contractors for the US military. He met and fell in love with a Minneapolis girl, Millie Jo Peterson, and they were wed on Oct. 12, 1957. Two years later they welcomed their daughter Christine into the world. Dave worked for many years at Control Data, retiring in the mid 1980's. Shortly after, both Millie Jo and Chris were taken by cancer in the early 1990's. In retirement Dave kept busy by doing auditing for individuals and small businesses, including the early years of Pawn America and the American Cancer Society annual super garage sale. He also enjoyed semi-annual trips to Las Vegas with his sister-in-law Ruth Dille, and loved spending holidays with his nephews and their families. Recently he had been busy with family, due to his nephew Mark moving his family to Eden Prairie. Dave routinely had lists of tasks for his grand-nephews to help him with, often ending with a lunch at one of his favorite restaurants, Bunny's. Dave was preceded in death by his wife Millie Jo, his daughter Christine, and his brother Robert. He is survived by his nephews: David Dille (Karen), Bruce Dille (BJ), and Mark Dille (LynnAnne); his grand nieces & nephews: Sarah, Paul (Andrea), Colleen, Claire, Jennifer (Dave), Chris, Alexander, and Brendan; and one great-grand nephew, Andrew. Dave will be fondly remembered by family and friends at a graveside service at Lakewood Cemetery, Sept. 20 at 11 AM. Memorials should be sent to the American Cancer Society.
