Carolyn Richter

Richter, Carolyn Age 95 of St. Paul, passed away peacefully surrounded by her seven daughters and one granddaughter, on Tuesday, August 26, at Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul. She was born December 16, 1918, in New Market, MN, to Stanley and Mary (Topic) Kajer. Carolyn graduated from the Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac and received BS degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the College of St. Teresas in Winona. She worked as an X-ray technician in Springfield, IL and Los Angeles, CA. On September 22, 1942, Carolyn married Edwin T. Richter in Los Angeles, CA. In 1946, they returned to Minnesota to raise their family. Carolyn was a supportive spouse in the couple's family business and an active member St. Teresas Alumnae Association and AAUW. Carolyn is survived by her seven daughters: Rosalie (Rob) Richter-Goldberg of Ithaca, NY; Carol "Kelly" (Rob) Hillman of Royal Oak, MI; Janet (Terry) Boyd of Oxford, CT; Kathy (Charlie) Koch of Minneapolis; Ellen (Thomas) Richter-Norgel of St. Paul; Mary Richter of Minneapolis; and Anne Richter (Art) Hallman of Minneapolis. Her grandchildren are: Jed Jordan of Ithaca, NY; Tulasi Jordan Freedman of Blairstown, NJ; Christopher Boyd of Manhattan, NY; Megan Holm of Minneapolis; Katy Holm (Tony) Rasmussen of Iowa City, IA; Andrea Holm of Santander, Spain; Ali Richter-Norgel of St. Paul; and Madison Richter of Minneapolis. Great grandchildren are Ava Holmes, Sol Wren Jordan and Talon Rose Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 2003. Carolyn instilled her love of music and life-long learning in her children. They gratefully acknowledge the excellent and loving care given to their mother by the staff of Lyngblomsten Care Center where Carolyn resided for seven years. Visitation is at O'Halloran & Murphy, 575 South Snelling Avenue St. Paul, on Thursday, August 28, 2014, TODAY from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (formerly St. Luke's), 1079 Summit Ave, Saint Paul at 10 a.m., preceded by one hour of visitation.
