Robert L. Hoffman

Hoffman, Robert L. age 85, of Mendota Heights, formerly from Bloomington, died peacefully on July 29, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Bob Hoffman always put his faith and his family first. He was a man of integrity, vision and determination. Born in Minneapolis in 1928, Bob enlisted in the Army at age 17. He graduated from Carleton College and the University of Minnesota law school and married Lulu Dodd in 1955. Bob co-founded the Larkin, Hoffman, Daly & Lindgren law firm. His expertise was in land use and he was instrumental in development of the Mall of America. Bob served his community as a Bloomington city councilman for 14 years and on the Metropolitan Council for 7 years. He coached youth athletic teams in Bloomington, Eagan and Minneapolis for 50 years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian (Drury) & Leonard Hoffman and infant grandsons, Daniel Hoffman, John Hoffman and Joseph Schissel. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lulu Hoffman, and their 8 children: Michael (Mary), Patrick (Colleen), Gregory (Amy), Kevin (Sharyn), Mary (Jeet) Singh, Marcia (Brian) Howard, Shelly (Mark) Schissel, Tony (Paula); 16 grandchildren: James, Thomas, Robert, Renee, Lauren, Claire, Ava, Kyle, Cole, Allie and Nick Hoffman, Sarina Singh, Nathan and Haley Howard, Matthew and Riley Schissel; and sister, Mary (Don) Olson. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (901 E. 90th St., Bloomington, MN) on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 5:00 pm. Visitation will be for 2 hours (3:00-5:00 pm) just prior to the Mass and also at 6:00 pm immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Bridging or Sharing & Caring Hands.
