Stanley R. Schampan

Schampan, Stanley R. 89, died on July 3rd, 2014. He was a World War II veteran who crossed the beaches of Normandy and collected the stories of his comrades in his book, E Company. Moving to Minnesota in 1974, he was a life-long learner, entrepreneur, and sailor. Sailing with family and friends on Lake Minnetonka and Lake Superior brought him joy. Survived by loving wife Barbara, their 3 children Nancy (John) Hughes, Geoff (Lisa) Schampan, and Wendy Schampan Mekler; 7 grandchildren, Brian (Suzanne) Hughes, Steven (Amy) Hughes, Christopher and Robby Schampan, Erin (Jared) Moise, Emily Jaqua, and Josh Mekler; and 4 great grandchildren Gina, Cal, and Ian Hughes, and Olivia Moise. Stan will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A heartfelt thank you from the family to the staff and aides at Elim Shores, Eden Prairie, for their compassionate care and friendship.
