Phyllis Rosalie Buecksler

Buecksler, Phyllis Rosalie 6/17/1918 - 11/12/2017 Age 99, of New Hope, passed away at Northridge Health Care on November 12, 2017. Phyllis was born in the town of Vesta on June, 17, 1918 to Ole and Nellie Froland. She married Leonard (Buck) Buecksler September 16, 1942. Phyllis is survived by daughter, Jan Griffin of Eagle River, Alaska; and son, Gary Buecksler & wife Dixie of Plymouth, MN. She had five grandchildren, Geoffrey Ferguson (wife Liz), Kelsey Griffin (wife Erin), Michael Buecksler, Bill Buecksler (wife Stephanie), and Jayme Griffin. Phyllis attended Mankato State earning an education degree. Phyl taught all eight grades in Pemberton where she met Buck. Buck was inducted in the army in 1940. They were married in Vesta in 1942 and lived in the NE US prior to Buck's departure to Normandy D Day + 10 days, returning in 1945. Post war Phyl and Buck lived in Cottonwood, moved to Redwood Falls in 1949, then Brooklyn Center in 1966. Phyllis taught for 35 years, resuming teaching in Morton in 1957 then Adams Elementary Anoka until retiring at 63. Phyllis graduated from the University of Minnesota BS in 1971. Through her life Phyl faithfully followed Minnesota sports teams, especially women's basketball college and pro. Phyl pitched softball, enjoyed dancing, cards, bridge and 500, bowling, golf, fishing, walking, and singing in choir. She is preceded in death by parents Ole and Nellie, husband Leonard, and brother Luverne (Red) Froland. Memorials preferred to Sharing and Caring Hands, 410 N 7th St, Minneapolis 55405.
