Wollan, Michael "Mike" age 66 of Minneapolis, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his loving family on September 23, 2017. Funeral service 11 AM Monday, October 2, 2017 with visitation 1 hour prior at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave S, Mpls. Preceded in death by parents and sisters. Survived by his loving wife of 43 years and best friend Mary, children Matthew (Jennie) and Carolyn (Dan); grandchildren Mason, Addie, Joey and Ellie, brother, uncle, cousins and many friends. Mike was raised in Minneapolis by parents Ralph and Ethel Wollan. He attended Minnehaha Academy and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in education. He later received his degree in Occupational Safety and Health and began working as an Occupational Safety and Health Investigator for the State of Minnesota where he spent his career until retirement in 2014. Mike was a very loving husband, father, Baba, cousin, brother, nephew and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He loved his family beyond words and his grandchildren were the joy of his life. Mike was a creative, curious soul who loved taking on new adventures whether it was a remodeling project or planning a trip "out West". He had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, the bigger the wilderness the better. He loved the family lake cabin, woodworking, drawing, painting, restoring vintage cars, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed learning about his family heritage and American history. He was a caring and patient mentor to his children and co-workers. We will greatly miss his unending love and concern for our comfort and safety. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Lutheran Disaster Response or Mount Olivet Lutheran Church.
