John J. 'Jay' Wright

Wright, "Jay" John J. Age 55, died September 10, 2017, at home attended to by his loving wife Shari. Jay had coped with neuroendocrine cancer for 3 years. Born September 25, 1961, Jay was named after his great-grandfather J. J. Quinn. Jay graduated from Washburn High Class of '79. He was a natural athlete and a fierce competitor with a love of sports. Jay's dream was to play professional baseball. He trained, bought a pitching machine, became involved in amateur leagues and tried out for the Twins in 1981 with Tony Oliva pitching. Jay formed the courier business Donkey Express, LLC with "Donkey" becoming his player nickname. In 2015 Jay was inducted into the Federal League Baseball Hall of Fame: Most Wins In A Season. Possessing a vibrant spirit and great sense of humor he was loved by coworkers and teammates. Jay is also survived by 3 children: Nikki, Thomas, Jayme; by 4 grandchildren: Hossyn, Noah, Fiona, Calvin; by 2 brothers: Chris, Patrick and by sister Kellye. -PMW
