Mary Louise (Neils) McGee

McGee, Mary Louise Neils passed away on August 7 at age 98 in her home in Bozeman, MT. Born in Minneapolis, May 17, 1919, she lived most of her life in the Cedar Lake area of Minneapolis and moved to Bozeman, MT in 2010 to be closer to family. Mary graduated from Northrup School and earned a BA in Art History from the University of Minnesota. She married John Paul McGee in 1940, raised three children and was widowed in 1981. A lover of nature and avid bird-watcher, she was a member of the Board of the Cedar Lake Park Association and active in the Bluebird Recovery Program. In 1947 Mary joined the Minneapolis League of Women Voters, and served as President from 1961-67. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frieda Neils, her husband, John Paul McGee, and her son, David McGee. She is survived by son, Peter and wife Susan McGee; daughter, Sara and husband Paul Gregg; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service was held at St. James Church in Bozeman, MT on August 10. A private interment will be at St. Marks Cathedral in Minneapolis on August 25.
