Oliver William Cohen

Cohen, Oliver William Age 21 of St. Paul. Passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2017. Oliver was born on April 16, 1996 in Washington, DC to Bridget Mary Murphy of St. Paul, Minnesota and the late Andrew S. Cohen of New York, New York. Oliver attended grade school at Nativity of our Lord Catholic School in St. Paul, and graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall St. Paul in 2014. As a boy, he loved sledding at the park across the street from his home and dressing up as Batman! Oliver had a witty sense of humor, a sharp mind and a deep intellectual curiosity. His interests spanned from postmodern literature, to politics and history, chess and films. He even built his own computer, and learned how to code. He also delved into music and shared that passion by making special playlists for his young cousins. He had been working on his New Year's resolution of listening to a new band's album of music each day. Throughout his life, Oliver loved summers with family at Bone Lake Wisconsin where he enjoyed jumping on trampolines, and tubing behind the boat with cousins. Oliver's love of bacon inspired a passion for cooking! He loved to cook for friends and family, and for the last year he had been working as a cook at The Happy Gnome in St. Paul, Minnesota. Oliver will be greatly missed and remembered for his curiosity, intelligence, warm smile, and gentle soul. Oliver is survived by his beloved Mother, Bridget Mary Murphy and brother, Benjamin Andrew Cohen; Grandparents: Evelyn Cohen of New York City, NY; Judith (Beddor) and Robert E. Murphy of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation 5-7 pm Tuesday, May 30 at O'HALLORAN & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul, 651-698-0796.
