Peterson, Ellen M. (nee Ressler) Age 99, of Richfield, MN, passed away May 21, 2017. Born in Chester, MT, she raced on horseback with her brothers across the North Dakota Prairie to attend the one-room schoolhouse in Jessie, ND where the family farmed. She became a Registered Nurse and met her husband of 49 years, George, a dental student, on a blind date at Miller Hospital, St. Paul. Together they raised a family and a dental practice in Richfield, MN. In retirement, Ellen and George lived in McAllen, Texas until George's death in 1986 when Ellen returned to MN. Beloved "Lemon Drop Lady" and neighbor, Ellen was known for her deep commitment to the church, warm hospitality, kindness and strong determination which she carried through 16 years of Alzheimer 's disease. She will be missed by her children, Georgie (Brian Pennington) Peterson, Dave, Penne (Chuck) Sewall; grandchildren, Dr. Erika (Jason Baim) Fanselow, Keith Fanselow, Josh (Tristan) Sewall, Anna Sewall; great-grandchildren, Michael Baim, Sawyer Sewall; other family, life-long neighbors, and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 26 at 5:30 PM at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel with visitation starting at 4PM and reception following service. Private inurnment Lakewood Cemetery.
