Ellena, Nicholas W. (Nick) Age 80, of Andover (formerly of Coon Rapids and Duluth), passed away peacefully at home and into the loving arms of Jesus on February 26, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Nick was born in Duluth, MN on October 23, 1936 to Joseph and Helena Ellena. He graduated from Morgan Park High School, excelling in all sports including basketball, track, and football where he was named All-State. Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 58 years, Faye (Kennedy); sons Andy (Renee), Joe (Renee), Pat (Stacie), Nick (Lori) and daughter Maria (Dennis) Mack; loving sister Linda (Bill) Ewald; 13 grandchildren: Grant (Andrea), Carter (Julia), Nick, Ben (Michelle), Ryan, Alex (Danny), Dominik, Savanna, Courtney, Jake, Leni, Katelyn and Sydney; 5 great-grandchil-dren: Merrik and Ryker, Reid and Riley, Lucy. Nick enjoyed hunting with his sons at the hunting shack in Cotton, MN, along with his good friends Ray Dincau and Ron Madaris and their sons. He also loved fishing on the St. Louis River in Duluth and enjoyed spending time up the Gunflint Trail on Gunflint Lake. Faye feels blessed for the many wonderful years she had with her husband. She thanks her children for helping take care of their father, which allowed her to care for him at home. The family thanks the nurses and aides of Fairview Home Care & Hospice for the tremendous support and loving care of Nick. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 3 at 10:30 am, Epiphany Catholic Church, 11001 Hanson Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN with visitation one hour prior to the Mass.
