Roberta Lou '(Bobbie)' DeVille

DeVille, Roberta Lou (Bobbie) 87, a long-time resident of the Minneapolis area, died Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Fairview Southdale Hospital. Born in 1929 at Windsor, C.O. in the shadow of the Rockies Bobbie enjoyed travel and staying fit. She received a BS in Education from Olivet College in 1969. She taught children with developmental disabilities in Ohio, Illinois and Minnesota. In later years she worked at the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center in the North Minneapolis African-American Community. While attending Pasadena College in CA Bobbie met and married Jacob a recent WWII vet. Together they ministered through many states before becoming educational professionals. She enhanced her ministry as a pastor with an operatic quality voice that was never excelled. Bobbie and Jacob traveled the world from Australia to Singapore and wrote several books together not the least of which was Lovers for Life The Key to a Loving and Lasting Marriage. Bobbie loved socializing and singing at Aldersgate UMC. She was active in UMC (The United Methodist Women) and chaired the mission for a number of years. Blessed with a wonderful smile that could light up a room she combined beauty and charm. Preceded in death by son-in-law, Lee Gluck and is survived by her husband Jacob "Jard" DeVille, her children, Jard H. DeVille (Jennifer), Dorothy DeVille Gluck and Jonathan DeVille; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren most of whom live in Minnesota, and brought great joy to her later years. Memorial Service at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in St. Louis Park at 10 AM on December 8, 2016 with visiting at 9:30 AM.
