Joyce Beverley Smith

Smith, Joyce Beverley On Nov. 25, 2016, at 9:45 p.m., Joyce's Guardian Angel paid her a visit, sat on her shoulder and whispered in her ear: "Joyce, you have suffered enough. It's time for me to take you in my arms and lift you up into God's Kingdom where you shall be with the Lord forever with no more pain or suffering. We have lots of children that need a figure skating instructor so you're it! We know how stubborn you can be so no arguments, the Lord insists so let's go." Joyce was born on Feb. 15, 1935 in Winnipeg, Canada. Joyce is the daughter of Ernest and Vera (Staveley) Barton, both of whom preceded her. She married Norman (Al) Smith in 1956. In 1967, Joyce, Al, and their 3 children - Kevin, Kent, and Kimberley immigrated to the United States where they made their home in the Minneapolis area. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy to the world along with Al, sons Kevin (Colleen passed in Nov. 2015), Kent (Kim) and daughter Kimberley (B.J.): her grandchildren Krystle (Nick), Grant (Anitrina), Tyler (Brittany), Alyssa (Aaron), Carter (Kyla), Brandon, Austin and Trenton: her great grandchildren Brodrick, Gabriel, Finn, Michael and Harken. Joyce was a very social person who made friends with practically everyone she met and became involved in activities wherever she happened to be. She very much enjoyed her winter Texan friends and loved to sit in the sun and wave to everyone. Whether it was in Texas or at the lake she treated everyone as family. The ones she left behind will miss her so very much but she suffered so much and so long that we can take comfort in knowing that she's in a far, far better place without any pain or suffering where she will live forever with the Lord.
