Lagaard, Sheldon Miller, MD Age 98, of Edina, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2016. Preceded in death by wife, Marguerite; son, Sheldon Lagaard II; daughter, Meredith Lagaard; and sister, Marcine. Survived by sons, Scott (Mary) and Steven (Nora); grandchildren, Sheldon III (Kim), Kristin, Karin (Jason), Soren, Marin (Lukas), Monika, John and Jessica (Tim); 7 loving great-grandchildren; and sister, Tedo Best. Dr. Lagaard was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, where he met his sweetheart of 70 years, Marguerite Molm. After graduation from high school, he went on to the University of Minnesota where he received a letter in swimming and completed an abbreviated medical school before serving military medical duty in Western Europe during WWII. Upon return from the war, Dr. Lagaard trained in orthopedics. In addition to his practice, he volunteered in organizations too numerous to mention. Special to his heart were Shriner's Hospital for Children, Gillette Children's Hospital and the Veteran's Hospital. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. We will especially miss his Manhattan's and many jokes. The family would like to thank the Minnesota Masonic Home for their loving care of Sheldon over the past few years.
