Geraldine B. King

King, Geraldine B. Age 80, passed away July 18, 2016 in Olympia, WA from complications after surgery. She was born May 23, 1936 to Richard L. and Elizabeth Beaty in Omaha, Nebraska. Geraldine graduated from Omaha's Central High School, Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, and received her Master's Degree and PhD from the University of Minnesota. Geraldine married Jack B. King on February 15, 1958; he passed away in 2014. She worked for a variety of libraries throughout her career and taught Library Science at St. Catherine's University. A resident of St. Paul, Minnesota for more than 50 years, she was a member of the American Library Association, and Plymouth Congregational Church. Geraldine was an avid and accomplished knitter, contributing many knit items to charity. She loved teddy bears and had dozens in her collection. She and her husband travelled frequently to England and to various American Library Association conferences around the country. Through the years with her husband, there were many much-loved cats in the family. Geraldine is survived by her sister, Dorothy J. Gerard of Olympia, three nieces and one nephew. Funeral Services will be held Wed., July 27, 2016, 1:00 PM at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home (575 Snelling Ave. S, St. Paul, MN 55116) 651-698-0796, with visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Grinnell College Library, Grinnell, Iowa, or University of Iowa Library.
