Valentini, Rosie A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 27, 2016, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chisholm with Fr. Gabriel Waweru and Rev. Fr. Fred Method Concelebrating. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until noon at the church on Monday. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Chisholm Community Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Chisholm. Rosie Valentini, 95 years young, died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. She was born on January 5, 1921, in Chisholm to Pasquale and Anna (Baratto) Altavilla. She was a Chisholm High School graduate, class of 1939, and was a lifelong resident. Rosie was married to Bruno J. Valentini in 1947, in Chisholm, MN. Rosie was legendary for her fabulous red sauce and chicken cacciatore that was served at Valentini's Supper club where she worked for over 40 years. Rosie was also the reigning meatball champion of the Altavilla family. Valentini's was a family business where she proudly worked with her mother-in-law, Justina, her husband, Bruno, brother-in-law, Nello and sister-in-law, Dionilla. Rosie loved life and celebrated each moment to the very end. She lit up the room and was the life of the party. She would never refuse a shot of Patron, to which she credited her long and vibrant life. She is survived by her children, Diana Valentini of Prior Lake, MN, David Valentini of Minneapolis, MN, Debra (Martin Berglin) Valentini of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Gino and Isabella Valentini both of Minneapolis; her closest friends, who are considered part of the family, Patti Latendresse of Hibbing and Mike (Kay) Arola of Chisholm, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruno; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Pauline; Lottie and Eleanor; Tony and Leone; Pete and Betty; Nick and Peggy; Frank and Betty; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Pete Johnson.
