John A. Lutzka

Lutzka, John A. 59, of Maple Grove, MN, formerly of Duluth, MN, passed away on June 20th, 2016 at his home with immediate family by his side after a year-long battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. John was born in Duluth, MN, to Claude and Betty Lutzka on December 20th, 1956. He graduated from Duluth Cathedral in 1975 and was a gifted athlete and notable hockey player in the Duluth area while in high school. He attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and married his high school sweetheart Kathy Dobosenski in 1976 and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 12th, 2016 at their residence in Maple Grove among extended family. John was passionate about boating and riding his motorcycle with Kathy. He enjoyed taking family and friends on boat rides around Lake Minnetonka whenever he had free-time. John and Kathy shared many adventures together which took them on picturesque motorcycle rides through Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Door County, the Black Hills, and Yellowstone National Park. During the Minnesota winter months, they would frequently visit Mexico to escape the bitter cold and relax at their favorite resorts. He made a career in the cabinet business for 40 years and was a successful salesman due to his ability to form strong relationships through trust and hard work. John received a Circle of Excellence Award in 2000, 2002, and 2004 for his outstanding sales growth and exceptional customer leadership. John was recently an Account Manager for Masco Cabinetry and had accounts in both Minnesota and Iowa for the past 7 years. John was a skilled handyman and proud of his many house projects. He was most happy with his kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, and tile work he completed in his homes in Duluth and Maple Grove. He is survived by his wife Kathy Lutzka, his two sons Nathan (Steph), Ryan (Shelly), and one daughter Janna (Ian), and five grandchildren: Madison 16, Sawyer 12, Logan 4, Lola 2, and Teddy 1. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30th, 2016 at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. and reception following the service. Private family interment.
