Richard Carter 'Ollie' Ollerman

Ollerman, Richard Carter "Ollie" Age 81 of Eden Prairie and North Port, FL passed away on 4/16/14 in Port Charlotte, FL in the arms of his loving wife, Hilli, and with his faithful dog Oliver standing watch. Born in St. Paul on 9/21/32, he is survived by wife of 52 years, Hilli Ollerman, 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild: Esti Ollerman (son-in-law Brad Ericksen, grandchildren Samantha, Elyse, Brooke & Paige), Richard Carter Ollerman, Jr. (daughter-in-law Melissa, grandchildren Sabrina & Ricky), Isa Erickson (son-in-law Jack, grandchildren Bryn/great-granddaughter Aleena, & Sage Ollerman and Selma, Mara & Jack Erickson) and Eric Ollerman (Andrea Janssen). Also survived by cousins Tommy Ollerman, AZ and Nancy Miller, MN. "Ollie" earned B.S. Degrees in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering & Geology and attended the U.S. Naval Academy/Annapolis, Gustavus Adolphus College, University of MN and William Mitchell College of Law. Ollie served in the Korean War as a tank commander and received the National Defense, United Nations and Korean Service Ribbon & Service Star medals. He was a Vice President for Dunham-Bush, Inc. before starting Carlson & Ollerman of St. Louis Park, MN. In 1978, Ollie started Data Center Systems, Inc., a Liebert Corporation manufacturer's representative, now located in Burnsville, MN. Ollie was a leader in the refrigeration industry and a pioneer in computer room air conditioning systems where his knowledge, engineering, and business acumen were and remain today the foundation of Data Center Systems. In 2004, Ollie retired to focus on his only hobby golf, which he both loved and hated. An erudite man, scratch golfer, practical joker, voracious reader, World War II aficionado and lover of all animals, Ollie was well-known and well-loved in both his Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie, MN and Bobcat Trail Golf Club in North Port, FL communities. He was ever the gentleman and charmed all he met with his sarcastic wit and engaging style and will be dearly missed by his loving family, friends, and all who knew him. A memorial service and celebration of Ollie's life will take place at Olympic Hills Golf Club, 10625 Mount Curve Road, Eden Prairie, MN, 55347 on Friday 5/2/14 at 6:00 pm.
