Barbara Parker Tuttle

Tuttle, Barbara Parker of Plymouth, age 82, died on April 11. Preceded in death by husband, Harry; parents, Barbara and Ramsay Parker; and brother- in-law, Gedney. Survived by 3 cousins in the Dow family, 4 nephews in the Tuttle family, plus many good life long friends, especially Hazel Gray. She graduated from Northrop Collegiate School (now merged with the Blake schools) and Smith College, where she majored in English. She was an active volunteer for the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Guthrie Theatre, Episcopal Group Homes, and attended a program for personal growth after her first bout with cancer, "Education for Ministries" at St Martin's by the Lake Episcopal Church. She taught Harry the joys of travel and later nursed him after a stroke, and served as his health care advocate until his death. Barbara was known for her strong devotion to friends and her dogs. She also had great capacity to overcome diversity: two additional bouts of cancer, alcoholism, and severe financial reverses. She once told an interviewer: "What you do is, you just do your best. I don't worry about my future because you can't change it. Make the best of it. Just accept the way things are." Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 3, 1PM, at St. Edwards Episcopal Church, 865 Ferndale Road N, Wayzata (corner of Ferndale Rd & County Rd 6). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go to MN Federated Humane Societies, 6613 Penn Ave South Suite 100, Richfield, MN 55423. Twin Cities Cremation 612-866-6711
