Vadnais, Beverley Ann November 28, 1940 to March 21, 2014. Are you hungry? Beverley Ann Vadnais had a way of making people feel at home the minute they walked into hers. She always had something in the refrigerator she could offer you, no matter what time of day you arrived. She had a passion for playing cards, bingo, making meatloaf and fishing. She had a gift for knitting and made sure that all new babies received a hooded sweater and everyone and their brother had a pair of slippers. Her favorite saying was "waste not, want not." She was thrifty and could make just about anything from just about nothing. She also made friends wherever she ended up and after a few days, she knew everyone. It seems no matter where they went, her children were either related to or were, at one time or another, babysat by the people to whom they were introduced. They were so fortunate to have been raised by such a strong, independent and loving woman. Her devotion to family and care for her children overflowed to their children as well. She had a love for her grandchildren that will never end. She was their rock and the glue that held the family together. She instilled in her children a great work ethic, a strong faith and modeled for them what it meant to be a good and loving person through putting others first. God had given her a "blessed" life, as she put it. We were all "blessed" for her having lived it. Beverley died on Friday, March 21, 2014 after having spent the last days of her life cradled in the laughter and tears of her family and friends. Her bright spirit is carried forward by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whose photos she always carried in the pockets of her wallet: Michael Dertinger (wife Laurnette, children Michelle and Mitchel); Wanda Dertinger-Dollahan (husband David, children Elizabeth (husband Talon, children Caylie, Grace and Alice Beverley) and Nicolas (wife Mary, children Bishop and Shatner)); William Dertinger (wife Cheryl, children Hannah, Cullen and Caleb); Marty Dertinger (wife Lynette, children Gabriel and Lucas); Marc Dertinger (wife Valerie, children Spencer and Guerin). Beverley's mother, Susan Reuther and sisters Joan Guck and Sandy Krekelberg remain as her champions here on earth along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Waiting for Bev at heaven's dock, with his fishing boat running, was her husband, Ronald Vadnais who died in 2012. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 A celebration of Beverley's life will be held from 1:00-3:00p on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Riedel Farm Estate located at 5100 East River Road NE in Fridley, MN 55432.
