Richard 'Dick' Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald, Richard (Dick) Passed away peacefully on May 22, 2016 in Bakersfield, California of complications due to congestive heart failure. Dick was born July 4, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Richard and Evelyn Fitzgerald. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings Margo Gilbert, Robert and Gerald Fitzgerald, he is survived by his sister Eileen Chovan, brother John Fitzgerald, his wife Diane and children James, Kevin, Michael, Mary Bellert, Rosanne Thompson, Patrick, and Diana Sheahan along with eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He worked for Sears Roebuck from 1950 to 1953, was a Chaplain's Assistant in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955, married Diane Fallon in 1955 and began a thirty six year career with Amoco Oil. He moved through the ranks and throughout the Midwest at Amoco where he started as a clerk, retired as a terminal manager and worked at bulk product terminals in Sauk Centre MN, Jamestown ND, St. Paul MN, Moorhead MN, Plymouth MN, Dubuque IA, Burley ID, and Sioux Falls SD. He was active in many volunteer organizations including the Jaycees in Jamestown ND, Youth with a Mission in Sunland CA, Habitat for Humanity in Americus GA and Jacksonville FL, and Children's Haven International in Pharr TX. Please join us in a memorial service celebrating his life at First Assembly of God Church, Blue Chapel, at 11 am at 4901 California Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309 on June 8, 2016. Luncheon to follow in the church hall, then interment ceremony with Honor Guard at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 2pm.
