Alexander Ostapenko

Ostapenko, Alexander age 68, born in Wasserburg, Germany, immigrated to the United States of America with his parents, Wasyl and Maria Ostapenko, in April 1951. He graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1965. Taught at home that the United States of America was the greatest country in the world, he served his nation in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam era, attaining the rank of Lance corporal. After discharge, he worked as a master craftsman and traveled the country from coast to coast, finally settling in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he died as a result of complications following surgery on May 19, 2016. Alex was preceded in death by his parents Wasyl and Maria Ostapenko, and nephew Adam Ostapenko. Alex is survived by sons Anthony (Karri), Dominick (Jamie); siblings Olga (Paul) Mykulak, Nicholas (Joan) Ostapenko, Tania (Bruce) Peterson, Mary (William) Anstett; grandchildren Max and Anna; and four nephews and their families. All who knew Alex will miss his good heart, love for others, quick smile and sense of humor, even when humor was hard to find. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to local animal shelters.
