Treuenfels, Peter Formerly of Fridley, passed away on April 30 at age 89. He was born in Breslau, Germany and immigrated to New York in 1938. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen. Peter was interested in mathematics, history, philosophy and German literature. He earned an engineering degree from Pratt Institute and his master's and PhD in mathematics from New York University. In the early years of computing, Peter worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground and Brookhaven National Laboratory before getting a job with Honeywell and moving to Minnesota in 1961. Peter also worked for Compten in Minneapolis and Star Technologies in Virginia in addition to consulting with the school psychology training program at the University of Minnesota. After retirement, he went back to school and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 2001. Peter is survived by his seven children, Anton Treuenfels, Mark Treuenfels, Lisa Morris, Jenny Treuenfels, Tom Treuenfels (Maricris), Andi Johnson, and Katy Caldwell (Steve), 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
