He entered that place prepared for him (John 14:2) on April 23, 2016, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 91 years. Bill grew up during the Great Depression. This hard reality, coupled with the death of his father when Bill was eight years old, necessitated that he learn to fend for himself. As a teen, Bill's social life revolved around the Youth Group at the Grand Avenue Alliance Church in south Minneapolis. During WWII, Bill served with the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific from February 27, 1943, to December 9, 1945. Six months after his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Bill and Patricia Kersey were married on June 21, 1946. Bill began his preparation for missionary work at the Saint Paul Bible Institute, graduating in May, 1951. Early in the fall of 1954, Bill, Pat, and their two young children set sail for missionary service in the Philippines under the Far Eastern Gospel Crusade, now known as SEND International. Arriving in Manila on November 27, 1954, Bill and Pat faithfully obeyed their calling until September 30, 1990, when they returned to the United States. God gifted Bill to be a teacher of the Bible, and this was his great joy in life. God sent him to teach the Bible in eleven countries, and to see his Bible-teaching materials (published in both English and Russian) used in many countries of the world. Bill is survived by his loving, selfless wife Patricia; two children: William (Susan) Arvan, and his one and only Jane Munson (David); six grandchildren: Rebecca Arvan, David Arvan (Sarah), Bethany Arvan, Rachel Person (Mike), Patrick Munson (Laura), and Ryan Munson (Katie), and fourteen great grandchildren.
