Carter, Ruby M. Age 90. Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on February 11, 2016. She is survived by daughters, Diane (Don Feeney), Pat (Scott Armitage) and Sue; grandson, Brian Feeney (Wren); nieces, Lynn, Nancy and Cathryn. She was preceded in death by her parents, M. Wayne Rice and Ollie Rice; sister, Evelyn; niece, Sandra; and former husband, Roy. Ruby was born July 25, 1925 and grew up in the Portland, Oregon area. She entered nurses' training in 1943 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland as part of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She completed her Registered Nursing degree in 1946. Before retiring she had worked most recently at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Ruby loved reading, crossword puzzles, needlepoint, classical music concerts, dining out, and spending time with her family. She volunteered at the public library, St. Luke's Episcopal Church and many other organizations. One of her great joys was to travel. She lived and traveled all over the country and the world.
