Morris, Grayson T. age 82, of Bloomington. Born in Hopewell, VA and died peacefully at his home on Feb. 9, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Manie and Grayson F. Morris, and his Aunt and Uncle who raised him, Grace and Charles Whitfield. Grayson graduated from Newsoms High School, Newsoms, VA in 1951. In 1954 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served our country in Alaska decoding Russian aircraft communications. While in college he married in 1962 and had his three children. Working and supporting his family while going to college delayed his graduation until 1967 when he received an Industrial Engineering Degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The Pillsbury Co. hired him and moved the family to Minneapolis. He was divorced in 1983 and was married to Joy on Oct. 6, 1984. In 1985 he was laid off from Control Data and while laid off he went back to college at age 55 and received his MBA degree from The College of St. Thomas. He worked as an engineering consultant for a few years during the recessions. He later returned to the Pillsbury Co. which was later purchased by General Mills. He and Joy belonged to the Control Data and General Mills retirement clubs and went on many trips and activities with both clubs. They took many trips to Virginia and around the country. He enjoyed working on his family genealogy and traveled to many states in search of information. He enjoyed managing his own finances. He belonged to several financial and genealogical organizations. He was a very hard worker, always trying to better himself. He loved his family very much and was so excited when little Cameron was born and he became a great-grandpa. He will be greatly missed, but we are comforted knowing he is at peace. Thank you to all the Fairview doctors, nurses and the hospice team who took such loving care of all the family.
