Smith-Swick, Rosemary Francis Artist and educator, died at home on February 7, 2016 at 11:57 PM. Rosemary was born in Brooklyn on May 6, 1941 and grew up in Manhasset, NY. Her husband James, son Barron, daughter-in-law Hilary, and 5 siblings: Kathleen Donovan, John J Smith, Peter Smith, Phillip Smith, and Helen Gartland mourn their loss. Rosemary earned a BFA from Sienna Heights College in painting; took her MA in Art History from the U of Iowa and her MFA in painting from the U of Minnesota. Rosemary taught art in NY schools, MN Higher Ed, the U of Iowa, Trent Polytech in the UK, and Eisenstadt, Austria. She was a McKnight fellow in 1990 and MCBA grant recipient. Rosemary helped initiate the beginnings of computer art through multiple exhibits in the 80s & 90s and beyond with painterly creations of digital imagery.
