Kantar, Stanley A. age 76, of Golden Valley, passed away February 5, 2016. Stan was a committed and dedicated teacher for Richfield Public Schools for over 30 years, retiring from his role as Director of Technology in 1999. To Stan, family was the most important part of his life and he ensured that his family remained close by spending quality time together. He cherished cross-country camping trips towing his pink Bethany pop-up camper, spending time laughing, playing and working at the cabin he built and exposing his children to a variety of local arts experiences. Stan was married to Sheila for over 52 years. Sheila remained his steadfast companion and advocate, her commitment to him never wavered. Before ALS, Stan and Sheila loved to travel, attend Gilbert & Sullivan shows, plays at the Guthrie Theater, and enjoyed a variety of classical music venues. Stan had four granddaughters whom he cherished. Even without the ability to verbalize, Stan had an uncanny ability to express himself through the sparkle in his eyes, his mischievous smirk and plenty of laughs. He always made sure to have a dog treat ready whenever he saw one of his three Granddogs. Just five months ago, Stan lost his oldest granddaughter, Alison Gratz, to kidney disease. Stan and Ali had a special bond, both being afflicted by diseases with no cure. Stan and his family send heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the loving and compassionate staff at Mount Olivet Careview Home. Their patience and gentle care provided comfort for Stan and Sheila for the past four years.
