Judy Jamieson

Jamieson, Judy Our dearly loved Judy, age 78, a long-time resident of Lewiston, passed peacefully with family beside her on Saturday the 9th of January at Wildflower Lodge Memory Care in Maple Grove. Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-three years, William "Bill" Jamieson; parents, Theodore and E. Louisa Flint; and sister, Barbara. Born in 1937 in Ithaca, NY, Judy received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Pasadena City College in 1959. Judy taught in elementary classrooms for over 25 years (California and Minnesota) and authored the Grammartown Language Program as well as numerous classroom "how-to" books. She was sought after internationally as a motivational speaker who passionately believed that one of the basic rights of education is success. Judy became a respected education consultant and pioneer of the Learning Community Framework for graduate programs in teacher education. At the time of Judy's retirement, the Learning Community Framework had resulted in Master's degrees for well over 20,000 students nationwide. Judy loved reading, learning, music, fishing, animals (especially cats), cooking, baking for family, gardening and watching children explore. Judy is survived by her cherished children, Mike Jamieson (Cory) of Winona, Larry Jamieson (Lisa) of Maple Grove and Jennifer Jamieson (Scott Priest) of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Lance Schiltz (Stephanie Kostuck), Drew (Lindsay) Schiltz, Eric Schiltz, Alexandra Jamieson, Erin Jamieson, Carolyn "Carly" Jamieson; great grandson, William Schiltz; brother, Jon (Sylvia) Flint; sister-in-law, Sharlene (Greg) Hain; nieces and nephews; many students, colleagues and friends. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (alzfdn.org) or to the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (cureangelman.org). A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM with a visitation service at 7:00 PM Friday, February 19th, at Lewiston Church of the Brethren, 25335 County Road 25. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 20th, at Lewiston Church of the Brethren with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
