Schmitt, Mary F. (Blackstad) Age 87 of Coon Rapids passed away peacefully after a brief illness on November 19, 2019. Mary was born on August 3, 1932 in New Bedford, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents Nellie and John Pimental and beloved daughter Sharon. Mary is survived by her sister Dolores Saporito; sons Russell, David (Lynn) Blackstad, Matthew, James (Cindy) Blackstad; daugther Sandi (Bruce) Cotter; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Mary was a life member of the Coon Rapids VFW Women's Auxilary while serving as President twice and elected as the 7th district President for the MN VFW. She was appointed to the Coon Rapids Human Right's Commission and honored to serve as it's chairperson. Mary was passionate about her Portuguese heritage, singing in the church choir and supporting our soldiers serving in the Armed Forces. She enjoyed meeting her friends and neighbors along with spending time with her family. Her loving memories will be remembered forever in our hearts.
