Sisler, Albert "Bert" age 96, passed away November 12, 2019 at home with his wife by his side. Son of Clifford and Ella (Mills) Sisler. Born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He served proudly as a pilot in the Army Air Corps and was a pilot for Northwest Airlines for thirty years. He loved flying, sailing, camping, and working on his many projects, primarily, his self designed airplanes, the Pipit, the Whistler, and the Cygnet. He was also an inventor and mechanical engineer graduating with a degree in business and mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1948. His passion was flying and he was a founding member and first president of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Chapter 25. The chapter's home is now housed in the BSAEC (Bert Sisler Aviation Education Center) at Airlake in Lakeville. He was passionate about his church - singing in the choir, volunteering for many church projects and was also an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and other causes. He was an honorable man whose work ethic, vitality, sense of humor and example will be missed by all who loved him and were lucky enough to know and love him. Preceded in death by son Brian. Survived by his wife Barbara, son Eric, daughter Katy, stepsons Bob (Bussey), Paul (Bussey), Jim (Bussey), stepdaughter Cheryl (Hoyum); 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. Funeral service Monday November 25, 11 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to service at: Emmaus Lutheran Church 8443 2nd Ave. S., Bloomington MN. 952-884-4751.
