Rick Long

Long, Rick Age 71, of Maple Grove, quietly passed away February 14, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born June 6, 1947, Rick grew up in Fostoria, Iowa. Graduated from University of Northern Iowa and St. Thomas University and contributed 4 years to the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated controller for Wayzata Nissan, Shakopee Chev, and Allen Interchange. Rick married the love of his life, Sara on June 30, 1970. Together they raised two daughters, Malia (Bryan) Cole and Natalie (Jody) Eamann. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cedar, Orien, Truth, Aislin, Neala; loving nieces and nephews, Ron (Robin), Sara (Ryan), Jennifer (Mike), Joe (Jill), Chris (Amy), Bridget (Rob), Angela (Chris), Ashley (Andrew), Justin (Ashley); sister, Linda (Tom); favorite in-laws, Ron and Susan and Tabby the cat. Preceded in death by parents, Al and Ellen. Rick treasured his time in the Bahamas and Hawaii as well as boating on Medicine Lake, theatre, golf, biking-especially the donut ride with his grandchildren and his morning run. Rick was an inspiration to everyone and the sadness we all feel is the greatest indicator of a life filled with love, joy, friends, and happiness. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 23rd with visitation at 10AM , Mass at 11AM and luncheon to follow at St Joan of Arc Parish, 4537 Third Ave S., Minneapolis.
