Ortman, Walter Age 92, of Hopkins, formerly of St. Louis Park, passed away May 15, 2018. Born in Guttenberg, Iowa on August 3, 1925 to Walter & Margaret Ortman. Raised in Charles City, graduated from Charles City High School in 1943. Walter enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII, serving from 1943-1946 aboard the USS Vestal. Graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Longtime employee of Ceridian (formerly Control Data) as plant engineer in Plymouth, MN. Walter enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, reading and watching sports on TV. Preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Ortman; siblings, Lorraine Kemp & Betty Ortman. Survived by children, Deb (John) Stegner, Jeff (Karen) Ortman, Pam (Dennis) Kane; grandchildren, Nicole & Andy (Tryna) Stegner, Katie & Bryce Ortman, Christopher (Nicole) & Sarah Kane; great-grandchildren, Emma & Sophia Stegner, James Kane; siblings, William Ortman & Nancy Erler; other relatives & friends. Funeral Service 11AM Tuesday, May 22 at Westwood Lutheran Church, 9001 Cedar Lake Rd, Minneapolis, 55426. Visitation 4-7 PM Monday, May 21 at Washburn-McReavy Hopkins as well as one hour prior to the funeral at church on Tuesday. Interment Fort Snelling.
