Giefer, Elizabeth "Betts" A. (nee Arms) Age 90, of St. Paul died peacefully with her family by her side on May 3, 2018. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Don; parents James & Elizabeth Arms; brothers, Jim & Tom. Survived by son Dr. Jim (Ginger) and their children Anne (friend Ted), Michael (Maripat), & Christine (Ryan) Bartley; daughter, Mary (Joe) Cassioppi and their children, Joe (Samantha), Sharie (Matt), & Bobby (Sarah); siblings, Muggs (Dave) Huch, Kathleen (Jay) Blanke & Fr. Mike Arms; sister-in-law, Judy Arms; 6 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. A graduate of Incarnation School and Holy Angels Academy. Betts was a wonderful homemaker & hostess. She loved the lake, traveling & laughing with good friends. She was known for her great cooking; especially her peanut brittle & raspberry jam. Her volunteer activities were extensive, especially at St. John Vianney where she served for 25 years. She was the recipient of the Academy of Holy Angels Angelus Award and served on the board of the Leo C. Byrne priest's retirement home. A special thanks to Dr. William "Bumper" Armstrong for his excellent care. Mass of Christian Burial for Betts will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 24th at St. Peter's Catholic Church (1405 Sibley Memorial Hwy, St Paul). Visitation from 9-11am, Thursday at the church.
