Ada G. Hegion, PhD

Hegion, Ada G., PhD Age 80 of Minneapolis. Passed away May 4, 2018. Survived by sisters, Mary Currey and Elizabeth Noble; sisters in-law, Frieda Buttle and Betty Buttle; special friend, Mary Cichon; life partner, John L. Sims, Sr.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dr. Hegion earned her Doctorate degree from the U of MN in 1969 and held an appointment as an Associate Professor there. She pursued and was awarded an advanced certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology in 1992. Dr. Hegion was a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Hennepin County Medical Center where she worked tirelessly for over 34 years helping children, families and adults to lead happier, more fulfilling lives. She also trained many psychologists in her years at HCMC, being Director of Psychology at the time of her retirement in 2001. In retirement Dr. Hegion became a Hennepin County Master Gardener where she continued her love of working with children. She was also an accomplished photographer, nature-lover, world traveler and a joy to anyone who was lucky enough to know her. Memorial Service will be held at the U of MN Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska, MN 55318 in the Snyder Auditorium on Tuesday, June 5th at 10 AM.
