Jan O'Connor

O'Connor, Jan 3/29/41-3/5/18 Janice O'Connor (nee Shirley) was born to Arthur and Lou Shirley in Longview, Washington March 29th 1941. She attended R.A. Long High School, moved to Portland Oregon and attended both Portland Community College and Portland State University. She and Harvey O'Connor were married in June of 1961 and had one daughter, Libby in 1967. Jan worked at US Bancorp as a Senior Accountant and moved to Minneapolis after the bank relocated corporate headquarters. She retired after 40 years of service. Upon retirement, she moved to Seattle to be closer to her family. Jan loved traveling, history, art, architecture, theater, symphony, museums, garden walks, historical home tours, fine dining, good wine, mah jongg and baseball. She was an active member of the Women's University Club and the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust. She never missed Spring Training in Arizona. We can only guess if she rooted more for the Mariners or the Twins. The diagnosis of ALS came in 2014. She never missed a beat; she continued her travel and entertainment life at full speed. Not a minute was wasted. Her courage was amazing and she always replied "Great!" when asked how she was doing. Jan lived with her life with courage, integrity, enthusiasm, great generosity, and a sense of style. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey in 1999. She is survived by her daughter Libby O'Connor, her beloved grandchildren, Max, Tommy, and Alexandra Dowd, and her sister Kelle Addicks. She will be missed forever. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 21st 1:30pm at the Woman's University Club, 1105 6th Ave., Seattle, WA 98101. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Evergreen chapter of the ALS Association or the charity of your choice.
