Nathaniel 'Whitey' Aus

Aus, Nathaniel "Whitey" of Plymouth went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as he died peacefully on January 20, 2018 at Colonial Acres in Golden Valley. Whitey was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 9, 1937 to the late Rev. Dr. George Aus and the late Svea Aus. Whitey grew up in the St. Anthony Park area of St. Paul and was a 1955 graduate of Murray High School. In 1959 Whitey graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in education and in 1964 received his M.A. from the U of M. Whitey was a coach and educator in the Roseville area schools from 1960-1977, where he was the head hockey coach at Frank B. Kellogg High School. From there he moved to the faculty of St. Olaf College, teaching health and physical education and coaching men's hockey, soccer and tennis. He also served as the Athletic Director at St. Olaf for six years before he retired from coaching in 1997. Whitey's Christian faith was important to him. He was an active member at Prince of Peace Lutheran (Roseville), St. Peter's Lutheran (Northfield) and St. Philip the Deacon (Plymouth). He was also a long-time leader with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Hockey Ministries International. Whitey was predeceased by his parents and his brother Philip. Whitey is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Ann (Blank) Aus; four children - Erik (Sue) of Lino Lakes; Leif (Millie) of Charlotte, NC; Karin Aus Olson of Plymouth and Kirstin Anderson (Pete) of Minneapolis; six grandchildren - Emily Voigtlander (Matt), Charlie (Fiancee - Samantha), Clare Aus, Linnea Aus, Annika Anderson and Jack Anderson; two great-grandchildren - Henrik Voigt-lander and Anders Voigtlander; two siblings - Peter (Kathy) and Evangeline (Lenny); and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, January 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road Six, Plymouth. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the service at the church.
