Gwendolyn Gertrude (Gehring) Mosborg

Age 93, of Edina and Minneapolis, died peacefully January 5th at the Hearthstone in Seattle, where she'd lived the past few years. Preceded in death by beloved husband Preben (married 57 years) and dear brothers Clyde and Frederick, Gwen is survived by children Steven and Susan, granddaughter Amanda, son-in-law David Bean, former daughter-in-law Carri, adopted son Edward, and relatives and friends. Raised in Milwaukee, Gwen came to Minneapolis to begin her teaching career after graduating from the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught early elementary grades in Minneapolis Public Schools for 32 years, and earned her master's in education at the Univ. of Minnesota. Gwen and Preben met in the Minneapolis Hiking Club and wed in 1954. Great nature lovers, they traveled the world and danced beautifully together into their sunset years. In her teens, Gwen was active in Job's Daughters and played piano and clarinet. As a young woman, she swam with the Minneapolis Aqua Follies, and as a senior citizen, tap danced with the Rhinestone Rockettes. She was a longtime member of the Audubon Society and the First Universalist Church of Minneapolis. Gwen will be remembered for her loving smile and optimistic spirit; piano duets; good humor; deviled eggs and Danish cookies; zest for life; and warm embrace. A Celebration of Gwen's Life will be held in June in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
