Three police officers involved in Sunday's fatal shooting in Eagan were not wearing body cameras, though footage may have been taken on a dashboard camera in their squad car, a city police spokesman said.
Eagan spokesman Aaron Machtemes said the Eagan Police Department doesn't have body cameras. Any dashcam footage would be part of the ongoing state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigation, he said.
The officers, whose identities had not been released as of Monday afternoon, responded Sunday morning to a 911 call about a man reportedly firing a gun outside the Forest Ridge apartments in the 1200 block of Ironwood Lane.
After police arrived, there was an exchange of gunfire, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors identified the man as 37-year-old Justin Kulhanek-Derks. The Hennepin County medical examiner's office, which did not officially identify the man Monday, will perform the autopsy and release the official cause and manner of death.
Kulhanek-Derks' family members could not be reached for comment Monday.
As is standard procedure, the three officers have been placed on administrative leave.
This was the first fatal officer-involved shooting in Eagan since 1992.
