We weren't going to touch the story about Patriots WR Julian Edelman and the charge of indecent assault that followed allegations that he groped a woman at a Halloween party. But as they say, new information has come to light.

Per an anonymous tipster, Deadspin is reporting that Edelman was dressed for Halloween as Lt. Dangle from "Reno 911" -- the same costume, as many of you already know, that we chose this particular Halloween.

Now, we don't want to make assumptions about any of this. The details of the Edelman case are sketchy and incomplete at this point. And the anonymous tipster could be wrong about which guy was wearing the Dangle costume. But we want people to know we take the uniform very seriously.

Dressing as Lt. Dangle for Halloween is a privilege, not a right -- except, of course, for the right to remain sexy. While those who choose it must constantly fight the laws of decency, there is never any excuse for crossing the line. We are happy to report that we emerged from Halloween with no charges filed. If anything, we were on the receiving end of a couple harassing incidents and pulled through in fine fashion. And we can only hope that allegations like this one will not impact our desire or ability to wear the costume proudly on future Halloween occasions.

We thank you for your support and invite you, in the comments, to report on the best/worst Halloween costumes you saw this year.
